We are Janis and Mike. We own Summer Cottage and are pleased to invite visitors to use the self contained Annex, now  available for self catering with the option of a light breakfast provided … details including special offer of £120pn (off-season price).

At Summer Cottage your neighbours are the boutique Marine Hotel and Golf Clubhouse which overlooks the Brora Estuary. You are only 5 mins walk from the centre of Brora with a Co-op supermarket. Brora has restaurants, bars, cafes and gift and craft shops as well as miles of sandy beaches.

Summer Cottage Annex is the perfect solution for a self catering holiday cottage in Brora. Completely refurbished for 2021 it is now ready to provide accommodation for couples, or even up to 4 people using a sofa bed in the lounge.

The Annex has it’s own separate entrance and everything you need for a home away from home including ensuite facilities with a walk in shower, a separate kitchen and large lounge dining area with an open conservatory which catches the sun nearly all day.

Local Area & Attractions

There is so much to see and do in and around Brora from golf to eating out and just taking in amazing vistas over hills, glens and the sea.  We have fantastic historic buildings and sites, diverse wildlife, birds and a coastal and dramatic inland habitats.

The Orkney Isles and the spectacular West Coast are within the scope of a day’s outing from Brora.

Here are a few suggestions in the immediate area

  • Shops, facilities and food:  With a well stocked Co-op supermarket, tourist shops and several eateries (to eat in and out) you are well supported within a short stroll from Summer Cottage Annex.  For dining out, next door is the Marine Hotel, based on a 1900 mansion house with its own beautiful views and surroundings. You can eat also out at the Sutherland Hotel or Sid’s for great Indian food, Cafes, a Chinese Takeaway and other catering options.
  • Carn Liath: A sophisticated Iron Age settlement accompanied by the rare survival of an associated village and earthworks 3 miles south of Brora.
  • Dunrobin Castle: 4 miles down the coast lies this stunning great house to visit dating to 1300 [Dunrobin Castle website]
  • Timespan:  Our local Museum and Art Gallery in Helmsdale up the A9 provides a glimpse into the past when industry needed the sea.
  • Wildlife – A wide variety of habitats make Brora an ideal location for observing all types of wildlife and birds.
  • Whisky Distilleries:  Our famous Clynelish is on the outskirts of the Brora village (does tours when open and is Brora Malt’s home). To the South Tain hosts Glenmorangie and to the North the Old Pultney Distillery in Wick, distills the most Northerly dram!

Terms: we ask for a 20% deposit please to secure a reservation, this is fully refundable for a cancellation 6 weeks in advance of the booking date, otherwise this and the remainder becomes due.

Unfortunately we cannot accept dogs or other pets.

Light breakfasts can also be ordered and delivered to your door for £5 per person each (Croissants, Pastries, Toast, Butter & Preserves and Juice).  If you do visit us as a guest, when you arrive we will welcome you with a local ‘dram’ of single malt whisky or a bottle of wine of your choice.
